WATER PROJECT UPDATE OCTOBER 8, 2015
This week at the District G Water Storage Tank the general contractor formed the second and third vertical sections of the pedestal wall. Reinforcing steel was installed and concrete was placed for both sections. Work on the reinforcing steel and formwork for the pedestal walls will continue next week. There are a total of 11 pedestal wall sections and one reinforced concrete beam to be completed over the next month.
The work along the northern portion of Route 6 began on Monday, October 5 at the Wellfleet town line. This work, Contract 5, will continue to work southerly towards the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor’s Center at Nauset Road. The first work zone that is currently setup will stay in its current location through Friday, October 23. This week Robert B. Our installed approximately 1,000 feet of water main. Please be advised that the advisory speed limit through the work zone is 30 miles per hour.
The first water main crew for CC Construction continued its water main, valve and hydrant installation along Nauset Road from Ballwic Road working south towards the Visitor’s Center. They ended about 500 feet north of the Doane Road intersection. Work will continue next week on Nauset Road continuing the construction towards the Visitor’s Center.
The second water main crew continued water main installation along Candlewood Drive. Work will continue next week along Candlewood Drive and Turtle Pond Road. This crew is anticipated to mobilize to Cestaro Way once the Candlewood Drive neighborhood is completed, which may be Friday, October 16 or Monday, October 19.
The third water main crew completed its work on Old Orchard Road by installing water main to Brackett Road and installing five hydrants. Work began in Brackett Road and will continue to work east along Brackett Road towards Nauset Road next week.
Please be advised Nauset Road (from the Visitor’s Center to MacPherson Way) and Brackett Road (from Old Orchard Road to Nauset Road) will experience delays from normal traffic patterns. Please seek alternate routes. The suggested routes to follow to each school are below:
Nauset Regional High School Routes
From the South: Take School House Road from the Visitors Center to Nauset Road. Continue north to Cable Road.
From the North: Take Nauset Road south to Cable Road.
From the West: Take Brackett Road eastward to Old Orchard Road. Continue north on Old Orchard Road to Nauset Road. At Nauset Road, continue south to Cable Road.

If possible, avoid traveling along Brackett Road (from Old Orchard Road to Nauset Road) and Nauset Road (from MacPherson Way to School House Road intersection at the Visitors Center).
After thirteen weeks of construction, almost 34,500 feet (6.5 miles) of 6-, 8-, and 12-inch water mains have been installed in the landfill area.
The work along the southern portion of Route 6 will begin on Monday, October 19 at the Nauset Road intersection near the Visitor’s Center. This work, Contract 6, will work southerly towards the Orleans rotary. During construction working hours (Monday – Saturday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm), one travel lane will be open to the northbound and southbound traffic; two lanes will be closed for construction. During nonworking hours, three lanes will be open to traffic; one northbound lane and two southbound lanes. Please proceed with caution when approaching and traveling through the work zones.
Construction for the well stations at District G and the Nauset Regional High School will be commencing in late October. The work under Contract 2 includes construction of the well pumping stations and associated water mains to connect to the distribution system water mains being installed under Contracts 1, 3 & 5.
